“The Necklace Of The Gods” by Alison Goodman
Is it a cruel tale of undaunting power struggle? Or should we call it a highly courageous story of truth, justice and duty? Written as a sequel to the award winning novel “Two Pearls Of Wisdom”, it is the final book of the dragoneye duology. This classic novel is in my opinion, a wonderful mix of the genres of fantasy, fiction, romance, action and adventure, which gives you an unexplainably interesting taste and keeps your mind vivid with imagination. Most of the scenes are set in war and keeps alive the struggle of truth against power.
When High Lord Sethon murders the Emperor and usurps the throne, it forces the true heir, Emperor Kygo to flee and the Empire of the Celestial Dragons is plunged into chaos. He encounters Lady Eona who was once disguised as Lord Eon and with her help and that of others loyal to the true Emperor, he launches an all out war against his Uncle Sethon. Despite jealousy, savage battles and betrayal that she must encounter, Lady Eona bravely fights for justice and truth. Emperor Kygo and Lady Eona fall in love even while their duties as dragoneye and Emperor often brings them into heinous challenges.
Lady Eona is a Mirror Dragoneye, one of the last two remaining dragoneyes and Imperial Naiso to Emperor Kygo. Although situations often lead them into certain acts of cruelty and murder, we find it unable to fault them because the reasons for their actions are crystal clear- the Empire and the Dragons. Wise and brave, both Emperor Kygo and Lady Eona complement each other beautifully. High Lord Sethon confidently portrays as the main antagonist with his brutal acts of torture and cruel ways. Lord Sethon, his once ally is an ambitious man who tries to use Eona for fulfilling his own question for power.
This novel was exceedingly well written. The parts worthy of great praise are the beautiful dialogues filled with emotion, vivid description of power and swordplay, realistic human thoughts and expressions and powerful words capable of taking readers to a world of fantasy. The only part I found a little disappointing was that sometimes too much information was placed in a single place which thwarts the storyline a bit, making readers confused of Eona’s real mission but the writer successfully completes the ending and fulfils the purpose.
I would highly recommend this rewarding book. Anyone who loves fantasy would love this book because it is capable of taking readers to a world of fantasy where we find great, wild things that inhabit only in our imaginations.
Hello,
My name is kevin and im from the USA. I loved your post. It makes me want to read this book. What was your favorite part of the book?
You can visit my blog at http://24kevinh.edublogs.org
Hi
Thank you Kevin for the comment. It is truly a great book, I can vouch for it. As for me, I think I enjoyed every part of the book. But I especially enjoyed the part when Eona had her first conversation with the Emperor as his Naiso. I loved her wit and strategic mind during the conversation. I liked when Eona played the part of a Blossom woman as well. I also like the Emperor’s humor and wisdom. I like…. A lot 🙂
Can you tell me about a nice book you read?
Best regards,
Rajyashori
My favorite book is probably Steelheart. It is a book about humans who gained Supernatural powers called epics. But instead of being super heros they were super villians. A small group of people called the reckoners are fighting back by exploiting epics Weakness’s to rid the world of Epics.
It does seem like an interesting book. What happened to the Epics in the end? Were they all destroyed?

Hi Mrs Trivedi-Ziemba
It is nice to hear from you again. I am glad to learn of your feedback regarding this post and I do hope your son would enjoy reading this book. However, this book might be suitable for adolescents and adults. Anyway, this is a really nice book.
While writing this review, I took some help and tips from the Oxford Writing Tutor. I also used my experience in writing reviews for short stories or plays in school. But I believe I have a lot more to learn and would enjoy any advice you might give.
Best regards,

Hi Celes,
What kind of realistic fictions do you like to read? I like to read about… fictions based on historical incidents.
And, I like to make fantasy stories as well. In fact, I love to make fanfics of the Japanese anime. What kind of fantasy stories do you write?
Yours,
